A compilation of 5 short stories brought together as one, The Blood Moon Chronicles has an interesting premise but misses the mark. The story is disjointed, doesn't have cohesion and is difficult to read. There is overusage of adverbs and far too many "ings." Both big "no-no's" in writing. Spelling and grammar usage errors abound; so many that the text is jarring and the reader must stop frequently to figure out what the word should be. Characters are introduced who do not move the plot forward and don't seem to be there for a reason. The Blood Moon Chronicles needs editing, badly. But, that having been said, there is real talent behind the stories. The author shows a great deal of promise and creativity. The characters Ms. Spears presents are interesting and complex and have a reality to them which draw the reader in. The dialog rings true to both the age and backgrounds of the characters, the plot is done well and the narration focused.
I recommend this novel for those who are looking for new authors to watch and follow. Ones with talent who still need work on their craft, but who with hard work and dedication will improve. I think Ms. Spears will and I hope she keeps on studying and learning her craft.

The Blood Moon Chronicles The Complete Collection eBook June Spears Reviews
Interesting read that draws you in. The story captivates you from the start. Sophie is a seventeen year old girl visiting her grandparents in Greece for the summer.
Sophie is seduced by an attractive vampire with a mission. Sophie doesn't know him. She never learns his name or where he's from. This transpires on the night before she is to return to the United States.
They enjoy a night of ecstasy. The vampire informs her that she will be having his baby and gives Sophie a box that contains a necklace. He instructs her that she is to give this necklace to the baby when she turns eighteen. He also gives her the name that he wants her to name the baby. He then disappears from her life.
The story then becomes confusing and lacks cohesiveness. The next chapter takes you to when the baby is turning eighteen.
There's no evolution or any explanations on what's transpiring. There're lots of characters appearing without any introduction. You get lost and find yourself reading the prior pages again to see if you missed something. There are grammatical errors. The story has potential. It needs to be developed.
The Blood Moon Chronicles were originally 5 short stories but have been put together as a collection in this book.
While staying with her Grandparents in Athens Sophie has what she thinks is a dream about a handsome stranger who visits her room at night. He tells her she is pregnant with a baby girl who she is to name Zelenia. Sophie is shocked when she realises the dream is real, too ashamed to tell her parents about the pregnancy she goes away to give birth and has the baby adopted. On Zelenias 18th birthday the girl becomes aware of unusual changes in herself. She is exceptionally strong and her eyes turn red, when she has the sudden urge to bite her boyfriend for a taste of his blood she realises something is very wrong, and decides to go in search of her birth mother for answers.
Although the premise is quite interesting, the overall story is very disjointed and we have to assume things rather than having important information confirmed. Random people are brought into the plot without proper introduction making it difficult to keep them straight without thinking you have missed a page. I had to keep going back to see what I'd skipped only to realise that I hadn't missed anything the information just wasn't there.
I wasn't totally comfortable with the `list' like writing style, it made me feel like I was being told what was happening when what I wanted was to `feel' the story. I could not believe in any of the characters even though I tried really hard to connect with them. It is unusual to have names beginning with `Z' yet we had four in this book, Zelenia, Zeeb, Zira and Zoraida, which for me was annoying.
In short I found The Blood Moon Chronicles to be a difficult read that left me a little confused and unsatisfied.
